Near the Children's Hospital in Hefei, there is a two-story pink building, which is rented by a non-governmental welfare organization as hostel that provides short-term free rooms and self-help "Love Kitchen" for poverty-stricken families with children seeking medical care. In the "Love Kitchen", water, electricity, rice, flour, grain, oil and kitchen utensils are all available for free use. In order to make the "Love Kitchen" run more smoothly, parents help each other and participate in the management and cleaning of the kitchen. As the sick children had to live in hospital wards for most of the time during their diagnosis and treatment period, the hostel intended to create an environment different from hospital wards for the children and their parents, providing a heart-warming experience that feels like home. So far, with 20 rooms and 8 function rooms such as reading room and a psychological counseling room, the hostel has offered free accommodation to more than 300 families. [Xinhua/Liu Junxi]
